SUNGLASSES FOR THE SLAY MOOD

Remember how we used to (and will continue to after this pandemic) feel fly when we dress up and complete our outfit with a classy sunglass? Our slay look is almost never complete with a sunglass. Who agrees with me?

 

Since we are all at home, let’s learn a thing or two about sunglasses, so that when all this is over, we will have more skills to pepper them!

 

First, in this our age, sunglasses matter A LOT. Yes! Your sunglass makes a statement of your taste and class. Before now, sunglasses were used majorly to protect the eyes from UV rays and radiation from the sun, but today, we wear it for more than just protection.

 

A quick conversation with some friends revealed that today, sunglasses are worn for these reasons:

  • Anonymity
  • Camouflage
  • To create a sense of mystery
  • To hide – red shot eyes or eye bags
  • To look cool
  • To boost confidence
  • To match an outfit

Now that we have thought about the reasons why we wear sunglasses. Let me repeat this, SUNGLASSES MAKES A STATEMENT OF YOUR TASTE AND CLASS. A quick look at the types of sunglasses and what they say about you will make it easier to decide what sunglass to buy the next time you are shopping.

 

Talking about shopping, before now I always found it difficult to settle for a sunglass. But a knwledge of the types makes it easier. I decide on the look I want to achieve, and when I see the type that produces that look, I pick it without contemplating for too long.

 

TYPES OF SUNGLASSES 

We always look out for designer glasses, but wearing a designer isn’t all there is when it comes to sunglasses these days. Yeah! You could wear a designer and still look unfresh. So the type of sunglass really matters.

 

You know why it is always difficult to decide on a sunglass, there are always so many types – shapes, colours, materials, lens options etc. But there are 5 styles that comfortably serves as umbrella for all the types.

  • Cat eye
  • Round
  • Browline
  • Retro Square
  • Aviator
  • Sport

 

CAT EYE

 

 

For a sassy feminine look and vibe, cat eye is the one for you. Its upswept angles and retro frames, gives a feminine and classic look. The type you need at the beach, park, outdoor party, and other outdoor events you desire a classic look for.

 

ROUND

 

 

Some days, you do not want to super slay, you just want a simple look. A round sunglass will give you that. Round glasses are iconic in style, with lenses that are always round, frames that are either large or small, thick or skinny, plastic or metal. It suits just about anyone.

 

BROWLINE

 

 

Celebrities favour this type of sunglasses. They usually come with a thick top frame that runs across your brow and extra-thin rims around the bottom half of the lens. If you want to step out in celeb style, browline sunglasses will kill it.

 

RETRO SQUARE

It isn’t surprising that you wake up some days unsure of what to wear. Retro square sunglasses are designed for those days. It comes with a boxy shape and real-thick frames. Interestingly, it fits ANY face size and shape. .

 

AVIATOR

Back in the day, this particular style of sunglasses were worn by only Pilots, but these days, it is great for a military (no nonsense) look. Aviator glasses usually come with reflective/smoked lenses, and dark metal frames. The lenses are large, and for a good reason – to block sun rays from all angles. This is the sunglasses you may be ready to share with your man (if he is into such things).

 

SPORT

I love sport glasses because of its sleek lenses that tapers at the temple. If you go hiking or any form of adventure, or want to give off an Adventure-Seeker look, this is definitely the style for you. It enhances visibility, reduces the glare of the sun, and often come with polarized lenses.

 

Have you decided what your next sunglass style will be? If you haven’t, take your time. One thing that helps is to gradually budget for each style. After all, we don’t like to rock one look all the time. The more the merrier.
